About collagen

What is marine collagen?

Marine collagen is collagen sourced from fish rather than cattle or pigs. It is hydrolyzed, meaning the collagen is broken down into smaller peptides so it dissolves easily in liquid and is straightforward for the body to absorb. Our collagen powders are made with hydrolyzed marine collagen.

How is marine collagen different from bovine collagen?

The difference is the source and the mix of types. Marine collagen comes from fish and is mostly Type I, the main collagen in skin. Bovine collagen comes from cattle and is also mainly Type I, with a larger share of Type III. Our collagen powders use marine collagen only.

How long does collagen take to work?

Collagen is taken consistently over time rather than as a one-off, and individual experience varies. Most people take it daily for several weeks to a few months before forming a view. If you are trying it for the first time, a size that lasts at least a month gives you a more realistic sense of whether it suits you than a few servings will.

How much collagen should I take per day?

Follow the serving size stated on your specific product pack, as this varies across our range. Each product page lists the serving size and the number of servings per pack. If you are unsure, or you are taking other supplements alongside, speak to your doctor or a qualified nutritionist.

What time of day should I take collagen?

There is no required time. What matters far more is taking it consistently, so pick whichever time you will actually remember. Many people attach it to something they already do daily, such as morning coffee or an evening drink.

Can I take collagen with coffee or tea?

Yes. Hydrolyzed collagen dissolves in hot liquids and can be stirred into coffee or tea. It will not thicken or set the way gelatin does.

Do you make collagen in tablet form?

Yes. Multi Collagen Complex is a 60-tablet product covering collagen Types I, II, III, V and X, for anyone who would rather take a tablet than mix a powder. The full composition is on its product page.

Can vegetarians or vegans take marine collagen?

No. Marine collagen is derived from fish, so it is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.

Is collagen safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

We do not make recommendations for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Please speak to your doctor before taking any supplement during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Can I take collagen if I have a fish or seafood allergy?

Marine collagen is derived from fish. If you have a fish or seafood allergy, do not take it without first speaking to your doctor. The same applies to our Omega-3 Fish Oil.

Whey protein

What is in the Whey Blend?

Whey Blend is a mix of whey protein isolate and concentrate, available in chocolate and mango. It comes as a 1kg pouch, or as a 25g x 2 sachet pack if you would rather try the flavour before committing to a full pouch. Should I take whey protein or collagen?

They do different jobs. Whey and collagen have different amino acid profiles, so they complement each other rather than replace each other. Many people take collagen daily for skin, hair, nails and joints, and whey around training for muscle recovery. Taking both is common.

When should I take whey protein?

Most people take it at whatever point in the day makes reaching their protein target easiest, which is often around training. There is no requirement to take it within a narrow window after a workout. Follow the serving size on the pack.

What is the difference between the chocolate and mango Whey Blend?

Only the flavour. The isolate and concentrate blend behind both is the same, so pick whichever you would rather drink every day.

Creatine

What is the difference between flavoured and unflavoured creatine?

The creatine monohydrate itself is the same. Unflavoured suits people who mix creatine into a protein shake, smoothie or juice, where an added flavour could clash. The blueberry version suits people who take creatine on its own in plain water and would rather it tasted of something.

How do I take creatine monohydrate?

One serving stirred into water, juice or a shake. Creatine works through consistent daily use rather than a single dose, so taking it every day matters more than the time you take it. The serving size and the number of servings per 250g pack are on the product page.

Can I take creatine with whey protein or collagen?

Yes, these are commonly taken together, and unflavoured creatine is made for exactly that. If you are taking several supplements alongside each other, or you take prescribed medication, check with your doctor or a qualified nutritionist first.

Omega-3, multivitamin and glutathione

What is in your Omega-3 Fish Oil?

Omega-3 Fish Oil is a double-strength softgel, 60 softgels per pack. The EPA and DHA amounts per softgel are listed on the product page. As it is fish-derived, it is not suitable for anyone with a fish or seafood allergy, or for vegetarians and vegans.

Do I still need a multivitamin if I take collagen?

They do different jobs. Essential Multivitamin is a 60-tablet daily multivitamin covering a broad range of vitamins and minerals, while collagen is a single protein. What is GlutaPop?

GlutaPop is a glutathione effervescent tablet, 20 tablets per tube. Each tablet is dissolved in water rather than swallowed. Directions and the full ingredient list are on the product page.

Pets

Can I give collagen to my dog or cat?

Yes, with the product made for them. Marine Collagen for Dogs & Cats is our 200g pet collagen, and feeding guidance is printed on the pack. More detail is on its product page. If your pet is on medication or being treated for any condition, check with your vet before starting a supplement.

Soaps

What is the difference between your three collagen soaps?

Sandalwood, rose and orange share the same collagen-enriched base and differ only in fragrance. Sandalwood is warm and woody, rose is soft and floral, and orange is a brighter citrus scent.

Choosing between our products

What is the difference between Collagen Essentials, Collagen Active and Collagen Glow?

They are three different formulations built around marine collagen. Collagen Essentials is our unflavoured base marine collagen. Collagen Active is an orange-flavoured blend that also includes glucosamine, chondroitin and hyaluronic acid. Collagen Glow is a blueberry-flavoured blend that also includes glutathione and hyaluronic acid. The full ingredient list for each is on its product page.

Which size should I buy?

If you have not tried the product before, start with a smaller pack or the travel pack so you can judge the taste and how it fits your routine. If you already take it daily, the larger pouches last longer and cost less per serving. The formulation is identical across sizes within a product, so you are only choosing quantity.

Using and storing our products

How do I mix collagen powder?

Add one serving to around 200ml of water or your usual drink and stir until dissolved. Hydrolyzed collagen dissolves without needing a shaker or blender, though either works.

How should I store powders and tablets?

Keep the pouch or tube sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and reseal after each use. Avoid storing them somewhere humid, such as directly beside a stove or sink, as moisture causes powder to clump and effervescent tablets to react early.

My powder has clumped. Is it still fine to use?

Clumping is usually caused by moisture reaching the powder and is a texture issue rather than a safety one. If the powder smells or looks different from usual, do not use it and contact us.
